ABOUT THE LOCATION
Safari Surf Adventures Panama location is in the small surf town called Playa Venao. Located in the Azuero Peninsula in the Los Santos Province, “Venao” as the locals call it is a true hidden treasure. The beach is set in a picturesque horseshoe shaped bay. Being a true tropical paradise, air temperature range between 28 to 30°C (82 to 86°F) year round. Water temperatures range in the 28°C (82°F) around June and are at their lowest in February, in the range 24 to 28°C (75 to 82°F).
Year round warm ocean temperatures mean that a rash vest and board shorts should be fine for surfing at any time of year. Sometimes in the Dec. through Jan. months the am winds can kick up an upwelling and add a chill to the water temperature. Some locals wear full wetsuits! So a vest or Spring suit is not out of the ordinary for dawn patrol surf sessions this time of year as the water can dip into 21°C (70°F) range.
Playa Venao is a relatively new found location only just started being developed by some surfers in 2006. Prior to that there was no way to get to the location by car …only horseback. So with that said the town is small but very surf oriented with some great bars and restaurants to hang out in and mingle with the local people.
THE WAVES
The surf break is a sandbar break with excellent lefts and rights on offer.
Best swells typically come from April through Oct. with Nov. through March being a bit smaller surf in general. There are also a couple of point breaks to the North us our location that offer up really fun long point waves.
THE DETAILS
Your Safari Surf Adventures surf coaching program will be led by our experienced and passionate local team. We will guide you to level appropriate waves and employ the unique SSA training curriculum in and out of the water.
A key component of our teaching philosophy is video and photo reviews, helping to track your progress and giving you focussed goals to work on throughout the program. All progress tracking, photos and videos we take of you are yours to take home at the end of your SSA adventure, giving you a great reference for continued progression whenever and wherever you surf.
ROOM AND RESORT
Safari Surf Adventures offer the beach front accommodations of the El Sitio Hotel. This hotel is literally on the beach. The hotel has a restaurant and bar along with a pool.

Pedasi / Isla Iguana Sanctuary Island Tour
Take a 20 minute ride into Pedasi where you can shop for souvenirs, then jump into a covered panga and take a 30 minute ride out to the sanctuary island of Isla Iguana to swim in the pristine waters and walk on the white sand beaches!

In all our locations, SSA supports local projects which help alleviate the problem of marine little and marine plastics. On every surf adventure with us, you will have the opportunity to learn more and get involved with our sustainability vision.
